Urban Garden

Hi everyone!
La Trama school has been enrolled in a new e-Twinning* project. That is the "URBAN GARDEN" where many countries are going to share with us different materials. All of them will have to be in English due to the fact that all of us speak different languages.
This time is the URBAN GARDEN PROJECT where Italy, Greece, Slovenia, Moldovia, Spain, Portugal, Croatia, Romania, Serbia, Turkey and Albania are going to share our ideas for making a greener planet. By the way, if you want to learn about those countries, tap on the image and find out about them.

*It's the community of schools in Europe. It was set up with the idea that by collaborating together and sharing practices the schools can develop meaninful skills. It makes learning more interesting and more fun, too.

The project aims are to create an urban garden in a space dedicated to school. The eye will be turned both on the scientific study of the plants that will be cultivated, and on the respect of nature for the preservation of the planet.

OBJECTIVES
The objective is the development of the new 8 key competences in which the theme of the environment and sustainability are the main aims of this project.

ACTIVITIES
Common activities will be carried out with the partners following some steps:
-Survey of plants and trees present in the school garden
-Creation of a QR CODE for each plant, to catalog and explain it
-Sowing new plants
-Record of plant growth progress
-Production of jam or other products
-Product exchange with partner countries
-Creating a digital site, book or magazine

FINAL PRODUCT
There will be a well organized twinspace and documentation of all the activity through a dedicated website or digital magazines.

STARTING POINT

The school wants to become greener, so we encourage families to bring plants at school.

After that, our City celebrate "PARKING DAY" on September 21st. This celebration promotes healthy cities by doing different actions. Click on the photo and look at the samples.

Then, as a consequence, La Trama agrees to be enrolled in URBAN GARDEN project.

First, let's follow the plane to see the countries participating in this project:

Now, we have to create a personal avatar and upload it in the padlet below. Remember that you have to introduce your name at the top of your post and some information about you. Look at the examples below:

Then, let's introduce students' presentations:

3) Germinate lentils

Hi there, do you remember your project about plants? Yes, you are right, the Urban Garden Project. Along the first and second term, we learnt some facts about plants. Now, we are going to check our learnings by experimenting at home. We are going to become "lentils spies" (espíes de llenties ).
SPY

The experiment consists of placing around 50-60 gr of dried supermarket lentils in a jar and cover with water. The process is explained with photos in this power point. It's important you read it properly until the end.

I was able to eat my sprouts in a salad. They were delicious. I encourage you to taste your buds, too.
